The conference CyberCon Romania 2023 was organized on May 22-27, 2023, by the Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA), with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Romania. CyberCon Romania 2023 is one week conference that unites top professionals in cybersecurity and related areas with the following objectives:
- Enhancing awareness about cyber threats and their impact;
- Cultivating a strong cybersecurity culture among individuals and organizations;
- Facilitating the exchange of practical strategies and best practices in combatting cybercrime;
- Encouraging innovation and research in the development of advanced cybersecurity solutions and tools;
- Fostering international collaboration to address global cyber challenges.
The conference CyberCon Romania 2023 was scheduled at six esteemed institutions in Bucharest, Romania:
- 22 May – National Military Circle;
- 23 May – “Carol I” National Defence University;
- 24 May – National Institute for Research – Development;
- 25 May – “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy;
- 26 May – Romanian Banking Institute;
- 27 May – University Politehnica of Bucharest.
The conference features distinct sections, providing speakers with a platform to disseminate their knowledge, share unique insights, and emphasize the interconnectivity between various areas of expertise:
- Section I: Enhancing cyber defence;
- Section II: Cyber diplomacy. Critical infrastructure protection;
- Section III: Preventing and combating cybercrime;
- Section IV: Cyber-attacks against financial institutions;
- Section V: Cybersecurity education and research.
Institutional partners include Romanian National Cyber Security Directorate – DNSC, Romanian National Cyberint Center, Romanian Police, Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre, National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics, Romanian National Institute of Magistracy, Romanian Banking Institute, European Institute of Romania, and Institute of Financial Studies.
CyberCon Romania represents one of the initiatives developed within the partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Romania and the Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA) that obtained the Cyber Outstanding Security Performance Award (Cyber OSPA) 2022 in the Outstanding Cyber Security Partnership category: thecyberospas.com. The Cyber OSPAs, based on the international Outstanding Security Performance Awards scheme, recognize and reward companies, teams, individuals, products, and initiatives across the cybersecurity sector.
