Abstract:
Unlike wired networks, in wireless LANs there are plenty of opportunities for unauthorized access by intruders with different purposes: curiosity, fun, gain control or espionage. The purpose of this paper is to present the main threats in WLAN security and some options available to block or limit unauthorized access. The security policy in a WLAN has to take into consideration the number of potential clients, the importance of data, the probability of attacks and the cost of protection measures.
